Safe, small day service where adults with learning disabilities can grow and enjoy their day.
Adults aged 18 and over
We support adults who may have learning disabilities, autism spectrum condition, communication differences, sensory processing needs, low-to-moderate behavioural challenges, or physical disabilities.

Arrange a Visit
Meaningful activities, every day
Every activity is planned so that each individual is learning, practising and enjoying skills they can use in everyday life. Sessions are adapted for each person's interests and support needs.
Independent Living Skills
Cooking and food preparation, shopping skills, domestic skills, personal self-care, time management and travel training. Building real-world confidence every session.
Communication & Social Development
Makaton workshops, PECS activities, social stories, group games, role-play scenarios, friendship-building and learning about personal boundaries and community behaviour.
Sensory Regulation & Wellbeing
Sensory circuits, aromatherapy and relaxation, movement-based regulation, mindfulness, coping strategies for anxiety and learning to recognise feelings and emotional triggers.
Creativity, Recreation & Leisure
Art and craft, seasonal projects, drama and storytelling, music and rhythm groups, dance, board games, gardening projects and outdoor activities.
Health, Fitness & Wellbeing
Walking, light fitness, chair-based exercise, outdoor games, nutrition education, hydration awareness and understanding personal health routines.
Community Participation
Café and restaurant visits, shopping trips, library and museum outings, local events, supported volunteering, leisure centre visits and park trips.
What to expect when you visit
Each day is structured to provide a balance of learning, activity and relaxation, tailored to individual needs.

Arrival & Welcome
Door-to-door transport arrives. Settle in, greet friends and staff.
9:45am – 11:00am
Morning Activities
Structured sessions: independent living skills, communication activities or creative projects.
11:00am – 11:30am
Break & Refreshments
Drinks, snacks and social time in a calm environment.
11:30am – 12:30pm
Late Morning Session
Sensory regulation, wellbeing or educational activities.
12:30pm – 1:15pm
Lunch
Shared lunchtime — an opportunity to practise social and independent eating skills.
1:15pm – 2:45pm
Afternoon Activities
Community outings, fitness, recreation or personal development sessions.
2:45pm – 3:00pm
Wind Down & Home Time
Calm reflection, getting ready to leave and transport home.
Door-to-door pick-up and drop-off
We work closely with a transport partner who specialise in supporting vulnerable adults to travel safely and comfortably.

- Seating plans tailored to sensory and behavioural needs

There are several ways to fund a place at Caring Places. Here are the most common options, explained in plain English.
Direct Payments / Personal Budgets
Most people are funded through local authority social care or direct payments. You manage the budget and choose how to spend it on the services that suit you best. We can provide a quotation and information to help.
Self-Funding
If you prefer to fund your own place, we offer competitive rates. Get in touch and we'll provide a clear breakdown of costs with no hidden fees.
Local Authority Packages
Commissioner-aligned and value for money. We work with local authorities across Derby and Derbyshire. For referral forms, pricing or placement discussions, get in touch.

How do we start?
Contact us to arrange a visit. We will carry out an assessment, offer a taster session where appropriate and agree a gradual transition plan.
